OUR TOP TIPS TO LONG LASTING NAILS

You know we love our claws, so we want you dolls' to get the very best wear out of your gel Mani and improve the health of your natural nails! Here are our top tips to make your Mani last and keep your natural nails in the best condition possible!

Wear rubber gloves when washing up or cleaning.

WHY? Our nails are porous, so submerging them into water will cause them to swell out when in contact & shrink back down when dried out. This movement of the nail plate will cause separation between itself & the gel polish, appearing as if your colour is ‘peeling’ or ‘falling’ off of the natural nail - sometimes in full pieces.

Solar Oil daily, at least once, but we do like you to do it as much as possible. There is no such thing as over-using Solar Oil!

WHY? SolarOil is designed to work with the gel polish we use, keeping it as strong as possible and improving that bond between it and your natural nails. It travels through the gel polish into your natural nails, hydrating and strengthening them as well as keeping your surrounding skin soft and supple! It truly is an all rounder!

Do not pick at things with your nails! Remember they are jewels not tools!

WHY? Picking at labels, selloptape, compacts, will loosen or even break the seal between your natural nail & product, causing the product to begin lifting from the edge or even chipping! Treat your nails like jewels, not tools!

Avoid using products that contain lanolin, mineral oil, petroleum jelly & essential oils

(found in creams such as Sudocrem, E45, Vaseline, suncreams, hand creams & skincare to name a few!)

WHY? These react with gel polish, causing them to lift from the nail plate or in some cases, eat away the product. To be safe, keep your creams away from your nails, use cotton pads or gloves if possible, the palms of your hands rather than fingertips & wash hands thoroughly after use! In a nutshell, keep anything you apply to your face, body or hair away from your nails! Please also note, companies do use different names for the above ingredients, so it’s difficult to decipher what’s good and what’s not, which is why we recommend just avoiding contact between all products and the nails - better safe than sorry!

Be careful when going swimming, relaxing in a hot tub or taking baths.

WHY? Soaking in water, especially water containing chemicals, will separate the nail plate & polish as we read before! Keep your hands out of the water at all times! It’s a good excuse to have a drink and/or snack in your hands!

Watch out for staining!

WHY? Fake tans, makeup, purple hair shampoo, spices i.e. tumeric, can affect nails due to them being porous, so watch out for these & keep them away from your beaut new colour!

Keep up to your maintenance! We recommend you maintain your nails with a fresh Mani every 2-3 weeks.

WHY? Any longer can be detrimental to your natural nail health as after this period, the product will begin to breakdown & the shift in weight due to growth will put pressure on the new nail growing through.

Always make sure your gel polish is removed correctly!

WHY? Incorrect removal can cause irreversible damage to the natural nail & may cause problems for future nail appointments. The product may not be able to hold onto the nail plate correctly, meaning premature breakdown of your fresh set. Also, we want your natural nails to be as healthy as we can make them!

We hope you find these tips helpful! We really find these make a huge difference in the longevity of your gel Mani's, so give them a go and let us know how you get on!

XOXO
